What Is There Today?
This large public space is a new magnet drawing crowds
towards the southern end of Orchard Road. Visitors stepping
out from Dhoby Ghaut MRT station are sheltered by a
lightweight glass-canopy, and flanked by a quietly rustling
water feature wall. Lighting features dot the open plaza
and stone benches allow people to gather. It is an urban
forum where shopping, dining, waiting, looking and walking
happen all at once, in one place.
Did You Know?
Plaza Singapura was completed in the late 1970s. The open
plaza sitting over the Stamford Canal was given a complete
facelift when Plaza Singapura was recently revamped.
