Location:
Clarke Quay
What Is There Today?
A conservation project completed in 1993, Clarke Quay was reincarnated as a popular food & beverage, shopping and entertainment spot for families by the river. Today, buskers, flea markets and push-carts selling a variety of bric-a-brac pull in the crowds. The numerous bars and pubs also make Clarke Quay a popular night-spot to hang out or have a drink with friends.
Did You Know?
In the early 1980s, Clarke Quay was a noisy scene of "tongkangs" (bumboats) and “twakows” (lighters) jostling bow and stern for a place to dock and unload their cargoes. Gazetted for conservation in 1989, several of the historic buildings were sold to a private developer to form the Clarke Quay development .
