Boat Quay Promenade
Location: Boat Quay

What Is There Today?

Home to numerous bars, cafes and restaurants, Boat Quay consists of more than 100 conserved buildings, mainly Art Deco style shophouses. The cosy riverfront setting presents an unique urban landscape juxtaposing low-rise conservation buildings against a backdrop of skyscrapers in the Central Business District, a popular photo opportunity for tourists and locals.

Did You Know?

Boat Quay was gazetted as a Conservation Area in 1989. The private owners of the shophouses were encouraged to restore their properties, and the government constructed a promenade along the river to facilitate pedestrian movement along the river. Alfresco dining was encouraged to add life and vibrancy to the riverfront.
