THE SOUTHERN RIDGES PLAN & IDENTITY PLAN

The Identity Plan


- Exhibited in July 2002 at the URA Centre.
   
- Outlined ideas and possibilities of how we could retain and enhance the attractiveness of places with distinct character, which have become markers in our physical environment.
   
- Various channels such as exhibitions, feedback forms, Subject Groups were set up to solicit feedback. More than 35,000 people visited the exhibition and about 4,200 individual feedbacks were received. Subject Group members comprising professionals, representatives from interest groups and laymen were tasked to study the proposals, conduct dialogue sessions with stakeholders and consider public feedback.

The Southern Ridges and Hillside Villages

- One of the four areas of distinct character under the Identity Plan.
   
- Comprises a cluster of ridges stretching from Mount Faber Park to Telok Blangah Hill Park and Kent Ridge Park. This cluster also includes the lesser known villages at Gillman Village, Morse Road and Alexandra Park at the foothills of these ridges.


The Southern Ridges and Hillside Villages Plan

- Six proposals exhibited under two main headings: "Connecting the Southern Ridges to create a network of interconnected parks" and "Introducing new activities at Hillside Villages".
   
- Received tremendous support from the public, stakeholders and the Subject Group.
   
- Two of the three most supported connections - bridges across Henderson Road and Alexandra Road.
